Honestly I don’t really know how to rate this one. At times creative, at times befuddling. I don’t think I’m offended? The characters were pretty thin and I didn’t love most of the songs. This movie will probably get a lot of Oscar noms and win a couple. Meanwhile I will continue to be confused.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome 1985
Part 2 of a mad max double feature! My least favorite of the original trilogy, but also is the most referenced. Multiple reviews point out how the moral complexity or dark tone of the series is lost, and I totally agree. The music is mostly to do with that, alternating between sappy saxophone and whimsical strings. Moments that would be big and emotional in the first two films become playful and meaningless. Still had fun though!

This movie is a fascinating exploration of the power of documentary. On the one hand, we get to see a peek into the life of a very worldly, interesting person who has more patience than a preschool teacher. On the other we get to see that this guy is a total dork, and he doesn't even know it.
