Almost 30 years after the original movie (and very much ignoring the other subpar sequels) the new Candyman takes on the mantle of being a true, direct sequel, keeping the spirit, tone and critiques of 1992's Candyman, with a wonderful directorial work by Nia DaCosta, as well as Jordan Peele's contribution to the screenplay and production.
