the movie randomly gets better an hour in. but also, why did the first 45 min have to happen? i never can tell if this is a translation issue or if this is just the story itself, but the script just feels weak? like rita feels very passive where she just kinda does what she's told and feels so passive? and the songs just weren't for me.
the performances, especially by karla sofia gascón are decent it's just the script/story that didn't work for me

if i could give this negative stars i would. this short actively pissed me the fuck off.
the lesson of "just tell your rapist/abuser no to make it stop" is so harmful and dangerous. it never shows her getting help. never does wang provide resources to help victims in similar situations. it clearly shows that wang does not care to understand these topics in an in-depth and nuanced way. it also shows how privileged and ignorant he is. it's downright depressing that filmmakers like this, are the ones who get these crazy budgets to make these horrible films.
