The Hero 1966
This might just be my favorite Satyajit Ray film. Everything about this captivated me from the very first scene. A carefully constructed narrative that not only flows well, it also analyzes the actors role in the industry. For a film that came out in the 60s, and a Bengali film at that, surprisingly, it still has a contemporary feel to it.

Sometimes when you're watching stuff like this it makes you go like "God, I love cinema". I was just so with the flow that at one point I even forgot that I was watching a film. The intergenerational perspectives on things are laid here so well and it gives you some sort of comprehension as to how we communicate with each other and also sometimes attempt to grasp seemingly unattainable matters. It may appear pretentious but it's so heartwarming and genuine that I can't think of anything recent that has resonated with me on such a personal level. Clearly, something I'd highly recommend!
