  I enjoyed this, but found myself wanting more and feeling like Eggers played things a bit safe. He continues to show amazing technical mastery with shot composition, lighting, costumes and set design.   Monkey Man is a bold and messy debut from Dev Patel. It boasts incredible action sequences and a clear creative vision from its creator, but falls short of some of action contemporaries in its pacing, especially towards the middle of the film.
