black films are so important to me. pouring boiled water into the bathtub, being called “little” by men and ur real name by women, finding a father in strangers, watching the cycle happen over and over. films like this make me reflect on how improbable it was for my parents to break out of that cycle, but they did it somehow. i can’t stop thinking about my nephews.
