Such a fun movie, especially in the theaters. Had no idea what to expect, but I definitely didn’t expect it to be so funny. Had everyone laughing out loud a ton, with great action and story developments to go along with it.
Some obvious references to proudly ignorant leadership, racism, illegal aliens, and colonization, perfectly delivered by Ruffalo’s hilarious performance.
Final thoughts: this movie wasn’t trying to be absurdly thought-provoking and emotionally charged - it didn’t give a fuck about areas that it didn’t need to, and it had the entire theater entertained from start to finish. Absolutely worth a watch.
Wild how such a captivating movie could be made in the 50s using one single setting. Fantastic acting and storytelling. Its place and high regard in history makes perfect sense.
Eisenberg gives a fantastic monologue and he should be getting more credit. Kieran Culkin plays a familiar role for him but he plays it pretty perfectly.
I feel like this one didn’t have much of a point to make. Good humor, some hard to watch moments, great looking film.
