    Amores Perros

The way the story unfolds is beautiful. I enjoy the way the Alejandro González Iñárritu shapes time and is intentional about scene placement in a way that allows the narrative to develop with poignant complexity.

There's an early scene where one of the fighting dogs has just won a match and is itching to continue fighting after leaving the rink. His handlers allow him to attack an unsuspecting dog, and he ends up dying. About 10 minutes later, we watch Ramiro, the abusive husband, holding up a pharmacy, and the combination of these scenes so beautifully sets up an arc for his downfall.
