Kontroll 2003
A beautiful Hungarian cult classic. Early 2000s dystopian vibes run strong in this, despite it not actually being a sci fi. Based entirely in the budapest metro, this film is dark and surreal, and suprisingly thrilling. Centred on the depressing lives of Budapestian ticket inspectors (kontrollers), one would not expect this film to be so gripping. I do feel sometimes that the surreal aspects of this film are overplayed and unnecessary symbolism is rampant. Still strongly recommend this. Amazing visuals.
