an unexpectedly packed theater, baby! the cacophony of the crowd’s hearty old-guy belly laughs throughout was such a treat.
baseball in general has always been a salve for me, and this was pure ASMR. manages to blend humor, melancholy and fraternity effortlessly without hitting the gas too hard either way. the passage of time is unforgiving, and everything in life reaches finality — and more often than not, it does so in a way we don’t expect. god, the subtle offscreen delivery of “i just realized Bill’s wife’s name is Linda Belinda” is the hardest i’ve laughed in ages.
