God I hope fantastic 4 restores my faith in the MCU.
This had good moments and many weak moments. Idk why but the film felt loose, poor script at times, poor cgi at times and poor plot points at times, leading to a particularly soulless and bland film. You could’ve been a 5 star, but you just had to bring out north west instead of an actual cast member from the west end and ruin what could’ve been an incredible revisit of one of the greatest animated movies of all time.
I think Jennifer Hudson had to go that hard on circle of life because she knew north west was coming up.
Truly can’t wrap my head around the choice to bring her in. Give me a 1 mile radius anywhere and I’ll be able to find a better option.
Strooooong 4 star. Hell of a first hour, including great new characters and world building. Loved the generation gap from Caesar’s death leading to different interpretations of his reign, it felt like very refreshing and unique story telling.
Only slight weakness was the final act feeling too much like a set up for the following movies to come.
Overall, bloody enjoyed that!
