  "he's addicted to the screens"

  since the 70s, ferrara has portrayed addiction, hopelesness and apocalypse like no one else, but it is particuarly amazing how he can encapsulate "the now" in his movies (and how he keeps on going, full speed, metal to the pedal).

  screen within screens, cameras inside images inside movies. gritty digital fanatism.

  ethan hawke is esplendid here. one of the best covid movies i've seen (right next to john wilson's "how to make the perfect risotto" episode and miguel gome's tsugua diares)
