Trouble Man 1972
A very cool movie about a very cool guy. A classic hard-boiled noir story about a smooth PI in Los Angeles. Robert Hooks has Denzel-caliber swagger. Shot beautifully -- especially the climactic 3rd act sequence which involves some world-class night-time sneaking around. (And it's edited by Michael Kahn). It's patient and restrained and doesn't rely on crazy over-the-top characters. It's more THE LONG GOODBYE than COFFY. "T has one edge, and that's his cool. But that's enough baby. 'Cause he's thinking all the time. And if he wants your ass, he gets it."
