I do kinda hate it when characters always seem like they’re too sharp, like they’re always having complicated conversations filled with zingers as they’re also doing something difficult like hacking a satellite or whatever. Doesn’t anyone ever go like wait what can you repeat that I was busy hacking a satellite

But this was still a good movie because of the way it works toward solving a traditional hero/villain mystery only to have it hit you after it’s over that you were kinda had. Pierce Brosnan just wanted to eat his lunch man

Funny thing about this movie is it’s kind of handicapped by how many masterpiece songs it has to include somehow. Every five minutes there’s a shot of Timmy being like hmm what rhymes with “changin.”

Look biopics are just dress-up exercises—they’re empty calories, a cinematic hot pocket. I like hot pockets sometimes, but this is about as good of one of these as I’ve ever seen and it’s still just fine. The tall shadow of Dewey Cox grows larger by the day.

the LA version of After Hours: instead of punk nightclubs it’s spin classes and spandex. Instead of mean, busy streets and existential chaos about a million little things it’s empty highway and a Hollywood-worthy threat of one big thing. In a town of self obsession the threat of nuclear annihilation immediately seems believable to almost everyone: of COURSE this is happening to ME
