    Rest in Peace, David Lynch

This beautiful, fucked up industrial dream of a film has resonated with me ever since it was among the first I watched from a must-see cult movies list. This is such a brave film (especially for what many consider a debut) that demands your respect and attention if you wish to make heads or tails of it. It was this all too rare approach, a motivated yet highly unapologetic weirdness, that makes David Lynch’s style so inspiring and will surely be missed.

Brilliant! This is the movie I feel like a lot of people have really needed lately. I understand the sentiment that it runs a bit too long, but I was watching with a big dorky smile the whole time, and this was probably the most engaged I’ve been with a film in quite some time. Everything about it just works for me and clearly for many other people. I’m glad this film has received such high praise; it’s very deserving.

The fact that this movie was not even nominated for any Oscars is completely beyond me.  In a year full of great foreign films, this one was a very clear standout. To me, the best part of this film is the art and cinematography.  The dramatic use of color was immaculate.  Every single frame of this can be taken as a work of art. Truly a masterpiece that was overshadowed and did not get the attention it deserved.
