I just watched a trans filmmaker accept a huge prestigious award for for making the exact kind of movie everyone would tell you not to make.
Vera Drew winning the award for breakthrough director at the gotham awards is one of those moments that, I don’t know, gives you some hope??? It feels big. When they cut to Nicole Kidman during her speech, my heart grew twelve sizes. A full circle moment among many.
