hello? i totally paused!
...except i NEVER paused this movie because LORDDD. every single look from cher, dionne, and tai put me in a blender, gave birth to me, shit on me, and resurrected me. maybe it's a bit stronger on the aesthetics than on the intrigue/plot but this is one of the few instances where that means next to nothing to me. they don't call the 90s the golden age of shakespeare revivals for nothing.

name a better austen movie (!) adaptation i dare you. everything about this was so incredibly well executed. autumn de wilde understands what the people want to SEE! the costuming was incredibly accurate and innovative, every single shot was gorgeously composed, every casting decision made perfect sense and every line was delivered exactly as i read it in the book. i love how it doubled down on the comedy throughout while simplifying whatever aspects of the plot needed simplifying.
