  perhaps the greatest irony about cronenberg’s videodrome (1983) is that experiencing this film requires doing so on the very screens that torment our protagonist. we watch unblinkingly, leaning forward as he presses his face against the glass. the screen becomes a mirror: we see our reflection and there is nothing we can do about it.

  i must have watched the wrong movie, because i thought i was watching godzilla minus one but instead i ended up watching nolan's take on godzilla (not inherently a criticism but when the director isn't nolan it kinda is) except i unironically think even he would've done a better job. every moment feels so manufactured and devised to evoke certain responses which i suppose is the point of fiction but god it does not usually feel soooooo mechanical and inhuman.…

  one of those movies that have been buried in my psyche for years. it's so beautiful. the setting is so pretty. i wanna know who came up with the floating islands because they make other fantasy settings seem so bland in comparison. there is so much creativity in this it makes you realize how little in fiction we have actually explored. there are always people coming up with something new. this movie is just so heartwarming and so fucking sad at the same time. it makes me feel a lot even after seeing it like 50 times. i wish i lived in this movie
