  this is a must watch for people who are hopeless romantics, who clutch onto little things that hold sentimental values and linger on silly memories. rather than a complete story from start to finish, this movie is more of a glimpse into the lives of these not so significant characters in the hustle and bustle of hongkong, captured in the melancholic neon glows and tidbits of western pop-culture.

  tenet could've been a great film. the premise is great, even though half the entire movie is just trying so hard to explain the technical concept while also simultaneously showing you the complexity of it with all the chaotic action scenes, so it doesn't ever let your brain keep up. and the other half is them trying to narrate the story to resemble one temporal pincer itself. but they're so caught up on the technicality that everything else feels half-baked.

  this movie is tough, in that the first forty minutes or so there seems to be nothing much being told. then the story delves into a question that's been asked since the dawn of time: what is reality? if nothing is real, why does it have so much impact on the self? unlike other sci-fi movies that wows you with how advanced cinematic visuals can be, solaris keeps it simple while asking us a question about metaphysics and the essence of consciousness.
