  Gorgeous in 70mm, Pearce commands every scene he’s in, beautiful score, a fast 3h35. Is it still a masterpiece if the most irksome thing about it is how clearly it wants to be seen as a masterpiece? I don’t know, maybe it doesn’t matter if it means we can get more character studies like this.
