  Lawrence Fishbourne deserves and Oscar. Angela Bassett deserves and Oscar. Everyone else is over acting, but it works, and those two performances elevate the entire film. Absolutely captivating from start to finish, unbelievable casting for the children, they are immediately recognizable in adulthood

  Outrageously funny, timeless despite corded phones and ordering a taxi. The jokes hold up, the white mans underbite will never be funny, and I will actively try to work “you’re singing sherry with the fringe on top” in front of IRA” into a sentence this week. The fake orgasm scene is even better in the rewatch, and the relationships between all the characters feel so genuine and lived in. I believed that Bruno Kirby and Bully Crystal were genuinely friends…
