As someone who is not familiar with the video game, everything was a new experience for me. Perhaps that's why I found the film enjoyable. And judging by the reviews, I'm one of the few who liked the movie because most of the reviews were negative.
Although I had a positive experience, there is still room for improvement. It would have been more captivating if the main battle took place in the arena, instead of on Earth, and involved more defenders.
The plot of pretending to have a fake unrequited love to get over a previous one eventually led to real feelings? That was somewhat interesting. However, the stalking part was a bit cringeworthy. Despite that, it was a sweet romance. If nothing else, at least this movie was more engaging and less cringe than 'Lovesick Ellie'.
I don't know about the book, but the movie was very shallow. The action progressed too quickly. The dialogues were idiotic. I like enemies to lovers, but this... Logic left my head.
