  Based on the novel by Argentinian writer Claudia Piñeiro, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize when it appeared, this adaptation is faithful to its source. It is fortunate that I read the book last year which provided some framework for me going into the film but that isn't necessary for most of the audience.
