watched this in theaters and don cheadle got multiple applause lines. wouldn't have wanted it any other way. "my adopted son, jesús" an INDELIBLE line reading. can't really figure out if the weird tonal shifts are balanced genius or jarringly off but either way i had a great time. but my god i'd be so mad if i kept coming home to my nice house and other people were just there having broken into my house. that's MY house! made me SO anxious!

A Complete Unknown 2024
grateful that a) I found my people in the NY Times review's comment section (those who physically cannot restrain themselves from mentioning Phil Ochs in any discussion of 1960s folksinging, purpose, tragedy, heart, intent; "relevant today" pushes itself out of our lips of its own accord) and b) I get to suck all the air out of the room again, with increased vigor, singing Diamonds and Rust at my friend's karaoke birthday. movie was fine!
