  Dude calling her “buddy” while he friendzones her tomboy ass to hang out with models is absolutely brutal, she even got all dolled up for him and he deadass was like “oh… um, this isn’t like a date date, I thought we were gonna work on the car” what a piece of shit

  I hope to god not every movie I watch in this endeavor has some iteration of these tropes cause this shit is BORING! Those onboard shots were pretty sick though, the Indy 500 wide shots were nice, and the rear projection is pretty damn believable in this

  Crippled by cynicism and an over-reliance on Relatable Humor, Barbie is a few diamonds of sincerity, wit, and genuine empowerment lying in the rough of a thousand neoliberal “more female drone pilots” pop-feminism tirades and gauche Marvelesque millennialisms. The plot structure, relentless self-parody, and dogged dedication to say something at the expense of nuance and characterization are the hinged limbs and pointed plastic toes that keep Barbie from relaxing into itself.
