The Raid 2011
This is the best action movie I've ever seen! I feel like some action movies let you zone out in a deluge of big explosions and endless hordes of dudes but in this film the scale is kept small enough to feel grounded but big enough to be exciting. The soundtrack rocks too.

Conclave 2024
Strong albeit generic cinematography is about the only compliment I can level at Conclave. It is a bewilderingly dull crawl of a film where even the cast don't seem convinced of it's paper thin script. The movie attempts to muster up some sort of dramatic gusto with references to some very sensitive topics in the real world towards the end, but they feel so far disconnected from the papal drama which IS this movie. I really loved watching this when I did, but more for it's brilliant sense of humor than it's dramatic merit. I was left a little confused as to why it won Best Picture though! However, upon the reflection which the ending of this film all but forces you to take, it's clear that in this film characters actions speak much louder than their words.
