Lost in Translation 2003
Let's never come here again, because it would never be as much fun.
No film has ever resonated with me like this one, and I'm deeply upset that I can't ever see it for the first time again.

Spirited Away 2001
This movie doesn't need a review because you've seen it and you know it's the best thing you've ever watched.

Unwelcome 2022
Some of this is just unbelievable craic, Colm Meaney gives this so much more than it deserves. The goblins are unbelievably funny, some of the one liners are incredible, the gore is cartoonishly wonderful.
Some of it I really didn't like so much. The last 15 minutes should've been cut and is ultimately just dire. There's also a couple moments here where it felt like the film was holding the implication of sexual assault as a tension builder before it being a red herring or something - not so good. Both protagonists are very unlikeable, maybe by design.
Worth watching for the goblins and Colm Meaney.

Snack Shack 2024
Pretty wonderful coming of age film shot in THE most beautifully nostalgic, dreamy way, particularly in many of the emotional close-ups that are done in what I can only describe as the "flashback to a dead wife" style
Not the very biggest fan of some of the act 3 choices, but ultimately a great time.

The Godfather Part II 1974
We are blessed to have the art of cinema.
So much of this is just masterpiece material. A laundry list of some of the greatest performances of all time here, with a really wonderful, ambitious plot that juxtaposes both the rise of Vito & the fall of Michael.
One scene in particular, the one where Michael confronts Fredo in his study, might be one of my favourite scenes in any film ever. John Cazale giving his all as Fredo, splayed out…

The Godfather 1972
Not having sat down & watched this in it's entirety before is one of my biggest film lover sins, second only to having never seen the second, and I repent, I ask forgiveness.
I've got absolutely nothing to add to the conversation around this, nothing that hasn't been said already a thousand times. I expected to walk away from it feeling underwhelmed, or that it aged, but no - it is undoubtedly one of the best.
