Matangi / Maya / M.I.A. 2018
really good! bought this at fopp having never heard of it but liking M.I.A, it's a really engaging story about her life and career. the footage really benefits from the fact that she started off wanting to be a documentary film maker. it contrasts harrowing scenes about the tamil genocide in sri lanka with little vignettes of the fun and exciting rise of a DIY pop star, and pulls your emotions in multiple directions.
