Car chases before common sense safety regs, coke-sprinkled funerals, an adorable orange cat portending tragedy & enough squibs to fill the LA canal. All that & you got Isaac Hayes dripping with sweat & charisma & Yaphet Kotto elevating an otherwise one-note villain with Shakespearean gravitas. Not to mention Nichelle Nichols, Dick Miller & Scatman Carruthers.
(*Tim Rogers voice*) What a cast!

Seconds, Society & Tetsuo for adults who enjoy the taste of Gerber. Yet another sigh-inducing example of the ready-made "wait to see what happens" elevated horror that pretends it has anything to say beyond its head-thuddingly obvious premise. I'm here for deranged Demi Moore & the occasionally inspired use of lens distortion but good lord remember when a so-called "exploitation film" wasn't 2.5 hours long? Made me want to rewatch The Neon Demon, so there's that at least. Empty movie for empty-headed people.

I'll always root for my boy Bong & Rob Patty remains my Hollywood Taurus golden boy, carrying this entire thing on his two pairs of shoulders, but this is only slightly less obvious & obnoxious than Okja. If "this feels like a studio note" is a red flag then this is a protracted game of Minesweeper. Emphasis on protracted—they called this Mickey 17 because it feels 17 years long. That said, not enough Mickeys!
