I didn't watch the first one so I was a bit lost at the beginning, but as soon as they mentioned 封神榜 everything clicked and I tried to draw on my middle school Chinese mythology knowledge. General Deng is a massive baddie

Arrival 2016
The often understated importance of language is at the foreground of this film. The importance of truly understanding one another can recontextualise a whole relationship. But for me, this film was about connection. Connection between two alien species, connection between two diametrically opposed nations, connection between two budding lovers, and the connection between a parent and her child. I remember liking this film when I first left the cinema, almost a decade later, I love this film.
