The War Zone 1999
The word "harrowing" is thrown around a lot, but this is truly the first time I've watched a film, sat back and said aloud, "well that was fucking harrowing." And I've seen Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom.

Where to even start? This film is frustrating for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, if the the film cut out the overtly sexual parts, it could have been good. A coming of age story about an immigrant child from a strict, Muslim community moves to a Western country, meets a group of rebellious girls, and tries to fit in all while growing into womanhood. You could even still keep the dancing aspect to it without it being so graphic.
