“Will you write to my mum for me?”
The one-take cinematography means we never really linger on anything, but instead, we move on even as we watch the death of a main character, the horrors of war, and even some beautiful locales. In all blurs together in the hellbent goal to accomplish the mission, and once that happens, we finally take the time to slow the camera movements down and let the sun break through the clouds. As we hold on Scoffield’s face, both he and the audience know this same hell will only repeat again tomorrow.
