Always a pleasure to see one of my favourite tropes in HK action movies: the same stuntguy dying twice in two separate scenes. A magnificently moustached Dion Lam Dik-on dies first in Chow Yun-fat's apartment and then gets killed again by Danny Lee in the final shootout at the church.

Kung Fu Stuntmen 2020
A fairly average documentary perhaps, but a necessary, long-overdue tribute to the unsung heroes on whose backs the HK film industry’s been built on (v. literally). I love rewatching these action scenes through the eyes of the stuntmen.

- Yuen Mo: Long Arm of the Law (ice rink), Heart of Dragon (nail!)

The Legend of the Swordsman 1992
There was a time in my childhood when I rewatched this movie every day. This, and the first three episodes of Sailor Moon. So I will always love Swordsman II beyond reason and against my better judgement.
On a more serious note, it actually retains a lot of the political cynicism of Louis Cha's original novel while dialing up its erotic charge and gender/sexual fluidity, and taking them to strange and exciting realms. Will forever be bitter that they don't movies like this any more.
