Reading about this film afterwards, I can completely see how it inspired and guided films like Saw, Hostel, and Human Centipede that came only a few years after. Beyond it's gruesome and bloody hack and slash, the real terror comes from the individual capable of performing these grotesque acts and their history that allows them to torture with equal parts precision and glee.
I also thought it was cool how the cinematography style changes from lighthearted and light-filled, stable shots…
