  Such a beautiful meditation on childhood and the loss of innocence that actually depicts kids as three dimensional people. I wanted to like this more, maybe I should have seen it as a kid, but I just didn’t click with some of the performances and there is nothing I fear more than white boys, which made it a little hard to relate.   A gorgeous story of family and culture clashing in the face of death. Through truly heartwarming central performances from Awkwafina and Zhao Shuzhen, Lulu Wang has delivered one of the most powerful films of the year, where my heart filled and burst over and over right up to that final glorious shot of Nai Nai.

  Watched with my asian mum for added power.
