  So sweet. Great voice acting. I found the subtle worldbuilding really interesting; aesthetically, it reminds me a bit of Simon Stålenhag's artbooks The Electric State and Tales from the Loop.

  Do the Right Thing 1989

  Something about the acting or blocking or shot composition made Do the Right Thing feel almost like a stage play to me, though it could also be the setting of New York (think West Side Story or Rear Window, which I know is not a play but kinda feels like it could be). Also I watched it on a plane and for some reason it was in 4:3 aspect ratio AND I was watching it on my phone with the colors reduced and didn't realize it til 20 minutes in LOL. So those components gave it an old timey feel. Definitely a unique experience lmao

  Wow yeah I feel lied to by the “true story” thing.  I still really liked the movie. Frances McDormand was great. Loved the accents. I liked the overhead shot of the parking lot (after the finder’s fee meeting). The part with the Asian guy was kinda weird. Thinking about The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, I feel like the Coen brothers have a tendency to portray characters of color in surprisingly stereotypical ways. Idk it’s like 5am that’s all the thoughts I have on that.
