The limits of animation are almost boundless, and we see none of it in the West anymore. We have no idea what we’re missing out on. There is a true voice and beauty in American animation. It can be lumpy, human, and soft. It takes its time in its movements. It’s labored. The movement is the narrative.

The medium has more to say, but we see none of that anymore. There was really some potential in the late 20th century…

May just be me, but I’m getting really tired of the quirky existentialism and epic depression moments that have become so common in the past decade of writing. I think if this movie had come out in like 2008 I’d be much more impressed by its message and style. This sort of smug winking meta storytelling has really run its course for me.

Really wanted to like it more. Glad people do. Ken yelling SUBLIME was one of the funniest jokes in a movie ever

Really starts to click when you realize Freddie has the exact mannerisms of a Tim Robinson character and it’s just one long ITYSL sketch
