was okay I guess
hope this isn't too snobby
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I don't disagree with any of the themes presented in Paisan but I don't think they are presented well, they are presented through very on the nose dialogue, almost every time the theme is explored it is through a character just rambling about it for a couple of minutes. I also don't think a film can just rely on having lots of important themes.
Adam Driver's character reminds me of my friend, Chuck, who is also a monumental cunt.
Just go with it, feel it. It's an odd film, it has almost no dialogue and is driven by ideas and philosophy rather than a strong narrative. But it touches and moves, stirs, and wakens you. I still can't get this film out of my head (granted it's only been 10 minutes, but you get the point). Well acted too, beautifully shot, and a lovely soundtrack.
I'll never doubt your recs again, Vidarr.
