Definitely not what I expected. It’s definitely a kinda of humor you either love or hate. It’s a bit corny and on the nose with metaphors, but it’s just about silly and over the top enough to get away with it. Combining that and some very interesting sci-fi concepts, you get a film that had me engaged every second.

Sean Baker’s interesting directing and writing style are on full display here. It’s hilarious and emotional. It’s delightfully awkward, in the good way that a lot of cringe-humor films and shows fail to achieve. The bilingual element adds so many layers. A combination of so many different filmmaking techniques. Super unique and refreshing to watch!

Crazy that a movie that breaks every rule imaginable from a story and cinematography perspective can be so entertaining and enrapturing. You can tell for a lot of these sequences that there was no plan for how they would shoot it. They just strapped on a super wide lens and just kinda moved around to whatever looks cool. And it’s dope as hell.
