Blade Runner 2049 2017
First of all, this movie looked SO dope. Casting was maybe the best part of the whole thing aside from the visuals in this world. Denis is probably getting to be my favorite director, at least visually. He does such an amazing job of establishing enormous presence and size in each of the locations and refuses to let his production designer go unappreciated. Sometimes that emphasis on visual grandiosity can detract from the human focus of the story and make the journey we’re following feel a little less significant, but in a world like this, it’s a trade I think I’d make too.
