Greg Heffley and the Diary of Wimpy Kid franchise expresses everything wrong with our western society. A self-centered, egotistical and prideful child that lives in a fantasy world of popularity. Rowley Jefferson is unnaturally the only normal character who truly embraces who he is, despite Greg’s spiteful attempts to make him more like himself, and why the world would ever want two Greg Heffley’s is beyond me.
Greg, as a character, is tolerable for about 3 minutes

An enjoyable watch, with some great cinematography, and I agree that it’s not worth all the Oscar nominations, but I think the reviews on this were harsh. It was simple, maybe yes at points too simple, but with it being a memoir of Brannagh’s upbringing, it’s allowed.
It’s not a political movie with your usual violence portrayed from the troubles, and I don’t get why people are expecting that. It’s the story of a young lad growing up on this little street in Belfast, it’s a real experience.
