  The Ring 2002

  Pretty damn good! I always like the mystery side to a horror movie like this, and despite the fact the 2000s blue/grey tint is in full effect, I do like how this studio horror flick looks. 

  Naomi Watts is pretty damn great, and the last scenes, despite looking a lil janky in 2025, hit hard. Eerie as all hell, and understandably a big moment in horror. It’s just very hard to not picture Brenda Meeks wailing on Samara in Scary Movie, or the recreation of said fight in the WWE between Alexa Bliss and Bianca Belair.

  I knew this was leaning into horror comedy but holy moly I didn’t expect to laugh nearly that much. Genuinely hilarious with its darkly comedic tone, with some good gory kills and a lot of silliness. A really fun watch in the cinema.

  You can really see so much of the DNA of the slasher genre start here, and that was really exciting to see. Super entertaining, fun performances and some genuinely great laughs, while there’s some decent kills and an overall style in this film that I really really enjoy. 

  A new Christmas staple without a doubt.
