One of the most criminally underrated Disney films ever made. Dark and frightening but in a real sense because the villain isn’t supernatural or a fairy tale.

Mean Girls 2004
One of the genuinely smartest films ever made. Tina Fey took a book designed to inform us the dangers of high school mean girl culture and turned into a textbook update of Comedy of Manners style. We are all able to laugh along at Regina’s cruelty because it isn’t happening to us, while recalling when it did happen to us or when we did it to others. We cackle at the lengths Cady, Janis, and Damien go to to overthrow Regina and the Plastics, thinking we would never ever do that, but knowing we would. Easily my favorite film of all time.
