  Doom 2005

  This took me two days to finish. Not necessarily because it was bad but more so because I started it at 11pm and fell asleep. I mostly liked this movie as something brainless to watch but in retrospect it was a terrible adaptation of the Doom games. They took out the coolest aspect of the series, that being the fact that these scientists accidentally opened a portal to hell. I think there were cool things they added to make the lack of game lore at the time (pre-2016 Doom soft reboot) but again it didn’t tie back to the biggest plot point of the game series.

  I really liked the story and the style of this movie. It had a very lighthearted and interesting way of portraying kind of serious themes. It almost felt like a grown up kids movie if that makes sense. Pretty different from other Bong Joon Ho films but it’s cool to see him be more playful in his directing
