boy oh boy, what a phenomenal film. immaculate acting by sebastian stan, he never does an snl-style donald trump impression, and instead uses trumpisms carefully in service of key moments to the story of the film. the writing is snappy, but not in an aaron sorkin west wing kind of way, instead going for realistic dialogue that is nonetheless engaging and interesting. jeremy strong is amazing, of course. he so deftly toes the line between making the audience cry for…
i find it so fascinating how wes anderson sees love. every other human emotion is so intensely unexplainable and complex to him, but love is so simple and beautiful. it’s a wonderful way to hope to approach the real world. yet at the same time this movie is so sad. it’s a film about the excruciatingly horrible feeling of grief. it’s grief and sadness given to you in the quirky and fun wes anderson vibe. i love this movie because it makes me feel things.

this whole trilogy is good. to me, it’s the last of the good movies from before they could get away with making everything cgi. not that cgi = bad but i have a certain nostalgia for when they had to build the thing for real to actually get us to suspend disbelief. plus the cgi in this movie holds up. also the music is all bangers i learned the whole soundtrack on piano in high school.
