Lots of delicious power-grabbing and political intrigue! Really enjoyed the little glimpse into the uglier side of the Catholic church and the exploration of the rise of populism and divisive right-wing politics from the perspective of religion! I loved the message of unity through difference and uncertainty- it's something that I think everyone can benefit from keeping in mind in today's political climate. Ralph Fiennes was amazing in this, the shot composition was striking with its bold colors and emphasis on the scale of the church's power and level of organization, and the soundtrack, slow pacing, and spare dialogue made this movie incredibly tense.
