While Corbet entertains major politics, they seem to flutter ambiguously (perhaps due to basic plot tricks or the original script remaining undisturbed for several years), but "This country is rotten," and Zionism looms harrowingly, as history sets to repeat itself.
The first half is so captivating that I wish the film's last act didn't rush to such a flop of a finale, but god bless VistaVision's horizontal scope/resolution. Such photographic excellence.
