  this had to be the most outright laughter i have experienced in a movie theater in years. fire soundtrack, slapstick goodness, anti cop messaging, i could not ask for more. forcing all my friends to watch this.

  watching this stone cold sober start to finish was an experience. cronenberg always knows how to hit an unsettling note in a manner that tends to defy time, and this film is no exception. 

  macabre, philosophical, and maddening, this piece takes an unstable narrator trope to new places. this is the progenitor of a lot of modern body horror for good reasons.

  ok, but here’s my actual review:

  adrian always picks the most fascinating fictional biopics, so i knew going in that this would be an absolute banger. the cast performances were nothing short of engaging.
  the soundtrack was my favorite i heard in ages. but the meat of this movie really came in the aesthetics.

  the mundane tones, color, and lines used throughout really encapsulate the despair of brutalism. a bleak visual tribute to an era of architecture captures viewer imagination…
