    Don’t think I’ve ever seen a foreign language film shot in the context of an immigrant community in America (NYC). Enormously empathetic. Conveys the monotony almost too well. heart wrenching. 

    Watched on laptop in the desert.

    I knew the story of a woman getting killed by one of the umbrellas just above Dead Man’s Curve on the Grapevine, and I think about it every time I drive past. The film covers the tragedy, but glosses over the second death by electrocution, which happened during the deinstallation of the umbrellas in japan, probably because the filmmakers had ceased filming by then. It is just terrible that an artwork so profoundly irrational caused two deaths.

    I rewatched it with maya after we met Miranda July and Mike mills on Valentine’s Day. Stella is their nanny and they came over to drop off vegetables.

    One of my favorite movies when I was in high school. I actually bought the dvd on Amazon to watch it and ripped it through my vcr and posted it on Vimeo, which remains the only available version online.

    Wow… I didn’t know this movie genre existed. Contemporary dance film. The plot was so strange and half arsed, it sometimes felt like watching a porno movie, just waiting to get to the action, see their bodies move. Rowan is the obvious shining star. I loved that guy soooo much. Thé cher believe scène is one of the best dances I’ve ever seen. Made me smile so hard, nearly cried.
