Häxan 1922
I had a chance to see clips of this film while waiting to see The Witch at the local Alamo Drafthouse and honestly it freaked me out more than The Witch did so I had to see it in it's entirety. Now The Witch is entirely different style of horror so it's hard to compare these films, but there's something about Haxan that really gets to me. I want to say it's the sabbath scene in the forest with all of the demons running around but I know it's deeper than that I just can't pin it down. This movie will give you the creeps.

An engaging meditation on life and death. I absolutely love the simplicity of the plot and the way the main story revolves around these complex ideas. I love that we are with the main character the entire time as he must decide his fate as well. We get to exprience his inner conflict and struggle up until the very end. This film is a great achievement and should definitely be watched.
